Guerramontesia microdonta is distinguished by the small stature of the tufted plants to 5 mm, undifferentiated central stem, lingulate to spathulate leaves to 3.2 mm, plane, papillose-crenulate margins, rounded apices, subpercurrent costa with one stereid band (ventral), pluripapillose, mostly isodiametric upper laminal cells, thin-walled, slightly inflated rectangular basal cells, autoicous sexual condition, setae to 10 mm, erect capsules, urn to 3.2 mm, and 16 short, papillose peristome teeth cleft or occasionally perforated. The specific epithet, microdonta, refers to the short peristome teeth (100 µm long or less)/
Guerramontesia microdonta se distingue por la reducida estatura de las plantas fasciculadas hasta 5 mm, tallo central indiferenciado, hojas lingüiformes a espatuladas hasta 3.2 mm, márgenes papiloso-crenulados, planos, ápices redondeados, costa subpercurrente con una franja de estereidas (ventrales), células superiores de la lámina generalmente isodiamétricas, con paredes delgadas, pluripapilosas, células basales rectangulares escasamente infladas, condición sexual autoica, setas hasta 10 mm, cápsulas erectas, urna hasta 3.2 mm, y peristoma con 16 dientes cortos, papilosos, hendidos u ocasionalmente perforados. El epíteto específico, microdonta, hace referencia a los dientes cortos del peristoma (100 µm de largo o menores)/
