Andina elata is characterized by the ovate-lanceolate leaves to ca. 2 mm, acute-apiculate apex, recurved margins, percurrent costa, 4-5 layers of epidermal cells (as filaments) on the upper (ventral) costa surface, smooth (not papillose) isodiametric upper laminal cells (sometimes oblate), short rectangular basal cells (especially toward the margin), slightly differentiated perichaetial leaves, setae to 12 mm, obloid-cylindrical capsules ca. 2 mm, and papillose peristome from a basal membrane excerted above the rim of urn.
Andina elata se caracterizado por tener hojas ovado-lanceoladas aproximadamente de hasta 2 mm, ápices agudo-apiculados, márgenes recurvados, costa percurrente, 4-5 capas de células epidérmicas (como filamentos) sobre la superficie superior (ventral) de la costa, células superiores de la lámina lisas (no papilosas) isodiamétricas (algunas veces oblatas), células basales corto rectangulares (especialmente hacia el margen), hojas periqueciales escasamente diferenciadas, setas de hasta 12 mm, cápsulas obloide-cilíndricas aproximadamente de hasta 2 mm, y peristoma papiloso desde una membrana basal excerta encima del borde de la urna.
