Notes: Puffia includes one species of creeping herb, which was formerly included in Geophila. However the analyses of Razafimandimbison et al. (2014) found that the two Madagascar species formerly included in Geophila are not closely related, with one species that belong to Geophila while Geophila gerrardii is more closely related to the African genus Hymenocoleus. Therefore Geophila gerrardii species was separated into this new genus, which is characterized by its creeping herb habit, cordate leaves, small subcapitate inflorescences, small white corollas with valvate lobes, and small fleshy red fruits with two pyrenes.
