Juncus polycephalus Michaux var. depauperatus Torrey.

Perennes, laxamente cespitosas; tallos 15-50 cm. Hojas 5-20 cm x 1 cm, 1-2 basales y 1-2 caulinares por tallo; vainas 1-5 cm, las aurículas 1 mm, membranáceas; láminas teretes, septadas transversalmente. Inflorescencia 5-15 x 2-10 cm, con 25-50 cabezuelas; cabezuelas 5-10 mm de ancho, con 2-10 flores; bractéolas ausentes. Tépalos 2.2-2.8 mm; estambres 3, 1.5 mm. Cápsula 3 x 1 mm, obviamente más larga que los tépalos, angostamente ovoide, aguda, brevemente apiculada, trígona, 1-locular. Semillas 0.4 x 0.2 mm, elipsoides, apiculadas. Lugares húme~dos. Ch (Breedlove y Davidse 55090, CAS); H (Davidse y Pohl 2242, NY). 1300-2300 m. (E. Estados Unidos a Honduras.)
