Lagerstroemia speciosa (L.) Pers., Syn. Pl. 2: 72. 1806; Munchausia speciosa L.

Arboles. Pecíolos 5–15 mm de largo, láminas oblongas a elípticas, 7–22 cm de largo y 5–9 cm de ancho. Inflorescencias erectas, 15–40 cm de largo, pedicelos hasta 2 cm de largo; tubo floral obpiriforme cuando en yema, 7–12 mm de largo, gris, pubescente, obviamente acostillado y acanalado, con apéndices cortos y gruesos entre los lobos del cáliz; pétalos morados, 1.5–3 cm de largo. Cápsulas 20–30 mm de largo, valvas con ápices apiculados.

Cultivada; fl mayormente mar–jun, fr mayormente jun–dic; Sandino 2944, 4310; este de Asia, Indonesia y las Filipinas.
