Ouratea crassinervia Engl., Fl. Bras. 12(2): 337. 1876; O. costaricensis Standl.

Arbustos no ramificados, hasta 1.5 m de alto. Hojas agrupadas en los ápices de los tallos sencillos, oblanceoladas, 35–47 cm de largo y 9–12 cm de ancho, ápice agudo a acuminado, base auriculada, márgenes completamente serrados, sésiles o con pecíolos de hasta 3 mm de largo; estípulas hasta 15 mm de largo, persistentes. Inflorescencia un racimo grueso de 12–18 cm de largo, raquis hasta 2.5 mm de ancho en la base, pedicelos 7–10 mm de largo; flores ca 8 mm de largo cuando en yema. Receptáculo fructífero subgloboso, hasta 10 mm de largo, drupas no vistas.

Rara en bosques húmedos en la zona atlántica; 150–300 m; fl sep, fr feb–jul; Neill 1540, Sandino 3385-a; Nicaragua a Brasil.
