Alternate Note:
May be synonoymus with O. rufipogon, but the type lost. Duistermaat, p. 191, wrote: "The description of this species is insufficient for clear identification, while the type has apparently been lost. The name ahs been applied to O. alta. Swallen, O. latifolia Desv., and O. sativa in South America and O. barthii Chev. And O. Longistaminata Chev. & Roeher, in African and to O. rufipogon and O. sativa I in Asian listerature. Itg was described as perennial, which has suggested that it cold not be O. sativa, which is generally regarded as an annual, but as said above, races of O. sativa cultivated in the Leiden Botanical Garden are perennial. I agree with Tateoka (1963) that as a nomen dubium this name should not be used for any taxon."
