Tallos hasta 30 cm, erectos a geniculados, glabros, comprimidos. Vainas carinadas, glabras; lígula 0.1-0.2 mm, pelosa abaxialmente; seudopecíolo 2-8 cm, piloso en los 1-2 mm inferiores; láminas 8-20 x 1-1.5 cm, glabras en el envés, esparcidamente estrigosa a glabra en el haz, la nervadura media blanco-verdosa. Racimo o panícula 3-8 cm, con 3-12 espiguillas; pedicelos 1-2 mm. Espiguillas c. 8 mm, blanquecinas en la antesis; glumas esparcidamente papiloso-pilosas entre las nervaduras, cilioladas; gluma inferior 6.5 mm, 15-16-nervia; gluma superior 4-5 mm, 10-11-nervia; lema pistilada c. 5 mm, esparcidamente papiloso-pilosa entre las nervaduras; lemas estaminadas 2.2-3.5 mm, glabras, 5-9-nervias. Cariopsis c. 2.3 mm. Selvas altas perennifolias. P (Sytsma 1545, MO). 0-600 m. (Panamá, Colombia.)
