Matudacalamus laxus F. Maek., J. Jap. Bot. 36: 345 (1961). Isotipo: México, Chiapas, Maekawa y Tateoka s.n. (MEXU!).

Tallos 1-3 m x 4-10 mm. Hojas de las ramas glabras; vainas sin aurículas, truncadas; lígula externa 0.2-0.6 mm, glabra o ciliolada; setas orales 10-32 mm; seudopecíolos 1-5 mm; lígula interna 0.8-1.2 mm, ciliolada o glabra; láminas 12-34 x 3-7 cm, ovadas. Panículas hasta 28 cm. Espiguillas 4-7 cm, con 8-12 flósculos; glumas agudas, la inferior 1-4 mm, 1-nervia, la superior 7-12 mm, 9-nervia; lemas 18-24 mm, 9-nervias con una arista hasta 15 mm; páleas 12-15 mm. Márgenes de bosques húmedos. Ch (Ton 1952, F). 1300-2700 m. (Guerrero, Veracruz, Chiapas.)
