Dryopteris chiriquiana C. Chr., Kongel. Danske Vidensk. Selsk. Skr., Naturvidensk. Math. Afd. ser. 8, 6: 43 (1920). Holotipo: Panamá, Maxon 5729 (US).

Escamas de la base del pecíolo 1-4 mm, linear-lanceoladas, pardas, no densamente enmarañadas ni lanosas; lámina 2-pinnado-pinnatífida en la base, ambas superficies eglandulosas; pinnas basales hasta 10 x 7 cm, escasamente prolongadas basiscópicamente; últimos segmentos c. 6 mm de ancho, oblongos, enteros, los márgenes ciliados; raquis y costas puberulentos, escamosos, las escamas aplanadas, no buliformes, ovadas a lanceoladas; nervaduras 5-6 pares, no ramificadas, terminando en los márgenes; soros medios a inframedios; indusio presente pero a menudo fugaz y por lo tanto aparentemente ausente, ciliado. Selvas húmedas, acantilados sombreados. CR (Moran 3036, MO); P (Maxon 5437, MO). (200-)1000-2000 m. (Endémica.)
