Notas: This species belongs to Hillia subg. Andinae, and appears to be pollinated by hawkmoths. This species has quite small leaves and flowers. The flowers have an unusual arrangement of stigmas and stamens, which may be unique in the genus: the the anthers are positioned near the middle of the corolla tube with the stigmas positioned below them. Hillia macbridei has been collected quite infrequently.
Distribución: Wet premontane forests at 1300-1700 m, Ecuador and Peru.
