Notes: This name was used in the Flora of Panama (1980) and the Flora Costaricensis (1993) with a very broad circumscription, and included plants from that region that are now separated in Amphidasya longicalycina, and several additional species are also recognized in western Colombia; however specimen databases have not all been updated for this change. Plants of Amphidasya ambigua are very short shrubs with clusters of relatively robust leaves.
Distribution: Eastern Panama to northwestern Ecuador.
