Salix alba L. subsp. alba


By sweet water. Coastal Galilee, Acco Pain, Sharon Plain, Philistean Plain, Esdraelon Plain, Samaria, Hula Plain, Upper Jordan Valley, Golan, Gilead, Ammon.


This taxon is sometimes referred to as subsp. alba,  in order to distinguish it from subsp. micans.

Branches yellow-green, more or less glabrous. Leaves thin, lanceolate to oblanceolate, rarely oblong-lanceolate (=f. latifolia), more or less white-silky when young, later glabrescent, minutely serrulate. Leaves at base of catkins more or less entire. Bracts greenish to yellowish. Capsule sessile or on a pedicel almost as long as nectar gland.
