general taxon notes:
Noguchi (1976) doubted the placement of this genus in the Meteoriaceae based on the absence of papillose leaf cells and the peristome structures that are different from all other genera in the family. The genus was placed in the Brachytheciaceae by Buck and Goffinet (2000). We still treat it here in the Meteoriaceae according to Brotherus’s classification system. This is a southern Asian genus, currently consisting of only one species.
