Mesonodon contains two species with a pantropical distribution; both species are found in the Neotropics. Distinguishing features include the plicate ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate leaves, not or slightly concave, ecostate or costate and short and double, numerous alar cells, seta light yellow, prostome present, exostome teeth finely cross-striate below, smooth above, and no basal membrane.
 
Mesonodon contiene dos especies con distribución pantropical, ambas especies se encuentran en el Neotrópico. Las características que lo distinguen incluyen  hojas plegadas ovado-lanceoladas hasta lanceoladas, escasamente cóncavas o no, ecostadas o con costa corta y doble, células alares numerosas, setas amarillas claras, prostoma presente, dientes del exostoma con finas estrías cruzadas abajo, lisos arriba y sin membrana basal.
