Pylaisiadelpha was established by Cardot (1912), including two species, P. rhaphidostegioides (Card.) Card. and P. drepanioides Card. According to Buck (1984), the concept of these two species matches with that of Brotherella. Since Pylaisiadelpha has priority over Brotherella, therefore, it should replace the latter. However, Ando (1989) considered these two genera different. Pylaisiadelpha at present consists of four species. Two species are known from China.

Plants slender, in densely interwoven patches. Main stems prostrate, extending, pinnately branched; branches short and erect. Leaves falcately curved, ovate-lanceolate, gradually becoming long acuminate toward apex; costae absent; leaf cells linear; alar cells differentiated. Dioicous. Setae elongate; capsules erect or slightly curved; opercula long rostrate; peristome double, hypnoid; basal membrane low; cilia absent.
