Notes:
Schliephackea is a neotropical endemic containing two species. In the tropical Andes found in moist premontane to high montane forest in Colombia and Ecuador; pendent from branches and trunks of trees. Allied to Holomitrium, the pendent habit of Schliephackea is unique among tropical Andean Dicranaceae.
 
Schliephackea es endémico del neotrópico contiene dos especies. Crece en bosques premontanos a montanos altos húmedos a muy húmedos en Colombia y Ecuador; péndulo de ramas y troncos de árboles. Está relacionado en parte con Holomitrium, el hábito péndulo es único entre las Dicranaceae tropicales andinas.

Plants forming usually long loose pendent tufts, yellowish-green to golden. Stems slender and lax, reddish-brown; central strand weak. Leaves distant, wide-spreading, twisted and contorted, ovate-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate-setaceous, concave to concave-enrolled below, distally broadly enrolled to ± keeled, apex flexuose, narrowly acuminate, base clasping stem; margins distally sharply serrate, serrulate below; costae single, percurrent to short excurrent; laminal cells smooth, upper and median cells short to long rectangular, walls entire to weakly or strongly porose; lower and basal cells narrowly rectangular to linear, porose; alar region well differentiated, cells large subquadrate to short rectangular, golden-red to yellowish-brown. Autoicous (pseudautoicous). Perichaetia terminal; leaves sheathing. Setae elongate. Capsules erect, urn cylindrical, peristome single, teeth 16, papillose; opercula long rostrate. Calyptrae cucullate, smooth and naked.
 
Plantas formando usualmente manojos laxos, péndulos largos, verde-amarillentas a doradas. Tallos delgados y laxos, pardo-rojizos; cordón central débil. Hojas distantes, amplio-extendidas, retorcidas y contortas, ovado-lanceoladas a angostamente lanceolado-setáceas, cóncavas a cóncavo-enrolladas abajo, distalmente anchamente enrollada a ± plegada, ápice flexuoso, angostamente acuminado, base abrazando al tallo; márgenes fuertemente aserrados distalmente, serrulados abajo; costa simple, percurrente a corto excurrente; células de la lámina lisas, células superiores y mediales corto a largo rectangulares, paredes enteras a débilmente o fuertemente porosas; células inferiores y basales angostamente rectangulares a lineares, porosas; región alar bien diferenciada, células grandes subcuadradas a corto rectangulares, rojo-doradas a pardo-amarillentas. Autoicas (pseudoautoicas). Periquecios terminales; hojas vaginantes. Setas alargadas. Cápsulas erectas, urna cilíndrica, peristoma simple, dientes 16, papilosos; opérculo largo rostrado. Caliptra cuculada, lisa y desnuda.
