A monospecific genus, S. anomalodictya H. Rob. is endemic to the Guiana Highlands of Venezuela. The genus is distinguished by the unique 3-angled (triangular) chlorocysts alternating with leucocysts. The generic name honors the foremost neotropical plant collector of the 20th century and prolific author Julian A. Steyermark (1909-1988).
Este es un género monotípico. La especie S. anomalodictya H. Rob. es endémica de las altas montañas de la Guayana Venezolana. El género se distingue por los clorocistos con tres ángulos (triangulares) alternando con leucocistos. El nombre genérico honra al colector de plantas neotropicales más destacado del siglo veinte y autor prolífico Julian A. Steyermark (1909-1988).
