Vesicularia is a pantropical genus stated to contain over 100 species. In the tropical Andes found in wet lowland low montane forest; often found in moist shaded sties, on soil, humus, logs, base of trees, and rocks. The genus is characterized by pale green or whitish-green, lax plants, weakly complanate, somewhat differentiated lateral and ventral leaves, bluntly toothed margins, weak or absent costa, large, lax and thin-walled, fusiform, rhomboidal to hexagonal median and upper cells, and undifferentiated alar cells.
Vesicularia es un género pantropical contiene más de 100 especie. En los Andes tropicales se encuentra en tierras bajas húmedas y montano bosque bajo; a menudo se encuentra en sitios sombreados húmedos, sobre suelo, humus, troncos en descomposición, base de árboles y rocas. El género se caracteriza por las plantas laxas, verde pálidas hasta verde blancuzcas, hojas ventrales y laterales algo diferenciadas, débilmente complanadas, por lo general márgenes obtusamente dentados, costa débil o ausente, células mediales y superiores grandes, laxas y con paredes delgadas, fusiformes, rómbicas hasta hexagonales y células alares indiferenciadas.
