Dolotortula, previously placed in Tortula, is monospecific, confined to the Neotropics. The genus is distinguished by the obtuse-rounded, spathulate leaves with a strong, multistratose border and large upper laminal cells.


Dolotortula, previamente localizado en Tortula, es un género monoespecífico, representado por  D. mniifolia (Sull.) R.H. Zander. El género es endémico del Neotrópico. Las características que distinguen a Dolotortula incluyen las hojas obtuso-redondeadas, espatuladas con un borde multiestratificado fuerte y células superiores de la lámina grandes.
