A monospecific genus represented by Sagenotortula quitoensis (Taylor en Hook.) R.H. Zander. The genus is endemic to the Neotropics. Sagenotortula is distinguished by the obovate-oblong or spathulate leaves, large, smooth laminal cells, nearly entire, elimbate margins. Previously placed in Tortula; the more familiar name Tortula mniadelphus (Müll. Hal.) Broth., is a synonym.
Un género monoespecífico representado por Sagenotortula quitoensis (Taylor en Hook.) R.H. Zander. El género es endémico del Neotrópico. Sagenotortula se distingue por presentar hojas obovadas-oblongas o espatuladas, células de la lámina grandes, lisas, márgenes elimbados, casi enteros. Este género fue localizado previamente en Tortula.
