长台藓科   chang-tai xian ke
by Gao Chien and Si He
This is a monotypic family consisting of single genus and single species. There are different opinions concerning the placement of the genus Oedipodium Schwaegr. Some bryologists (Nyholm 1956, 1989; Lawton 1971) considered it to be a genus of the Splachnaceae, while Brotherus (1924b), P.-C. Chen et al. (1963), Smith (1978), and Noguchi (1988) treated it in its own family. Recently, Buck and Goffinet (2000), in their new classification of mosses, recognized the Oedipodiaceae as an independent family, which we accept in this study.
