Ecology. Yungas and Tucuman-Bolivian montane forest to shrubby humid puna; on branches of shrubs and low trees (including Saracha punctata). Elevation. 2200-3800 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz, Tarija. World range: tropical Andes.
 
Ecología. Bosque montano de Yungas y Tucumano-boliviano a puna húmeda arbustiva; sobre ramas de arbustos y árboles bajos (incluyendo Saracha punctata). Altitud. 2200-3800 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz y Tarija. Distribución mundial: Andes tropicales.
 
Daltonia trachyodonta is characterized by the oblong-ligulate leaves to 3 mm long, revolute leaf margins, narrow border with 3-5 cell rows, short rectangular-oblong basal cells, and smooth seta to 10 mm long. Daltonia trachydontia Mitt. ex E.B. Bartram is an orthographic variant. Daltonia subirrorata Broth., collected by Herzog from Incacorral (Department of Cochabamba), is a synonym.
 
Daltonia trachyodonta se caracteriza por las hojas oblongo-liguladas hasta 3 mm de largo, márgenes de las hojas revolutos, borde angosto con 3-5 filas de células, células basales cortas rectangular-oblongas y setas lisas hasta 10 mm de largo. Daltonia trachydontia Mitt. ex E.B. Bartram es una variante ortográfica. Daltonia subirrorata Broth., colectada por Herzog en Incacorral (departamento de Cochabamba), es un sinónimo.
