Andreaea acutifolia differs from A. rupestris (and A. brevipes Spruce) by its rather abruptly long and narrow acuminate apex.

Leaves spirally foliate, crowded, spreading flexuosoe from a sub-sheathing base, narrowly oblong-lanceolate or-subulate, 0.9-1.5 mm long, ca. 0.2 mm wide, base concave, apex acuminate to acute, channeled, margins erect to slightly incurved, costae absent; median to lower leaf cells short to long rectangular, strongly porose, thick-walled, subapical cells round to oval, 6-8 mm in diameter, bulging-mammillose, basal cells short to long rectangular in 1-2 rows, 24-40 mm long, 10-12 mm wide, firm-walled, non-porose.
 
Hojas dispuestas en espiral, agregadas, patente flexuosoe desde una base sub-envainante, angostamente oblongo-lanceoladas o -subuladas, 0.9-1.5 mm de largo, aprox. 0.2 mm ancho, base cóncava, ápices acuminados a agudos, acanalados, márgenes erectos a escasamente incurvados, costa ausente; células mediales a inferiores de la hoja corto a largo-rectangulares, marcadamente porosas, con paredes gruesas, células subapicales redondeadas a ovales, 6-8 mm de diámetro, abultado-mamilosas, células basales cortas a largo-rectangulares en 1-2 filas, 24-40 mm de largo, 10-12 mm de  ancho, con paredes firmes, no-porosas.
