Ecology. Open upper Yungas montane and humid puna; on rocks in streams. Elevation. 3275-3400 m. Distribution. Bolivia: World range: Central America (Honduras), Andes from Colombia to Tierra del Fuego, southeast Brazil; also Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Borneo.
Ecología. Montano superior abierto de Yungas y puna húmeda; sobre rocas en quebradas. Altitud. 3275-3400 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Distribución mundial: Centro América (Honduras), Andes desde Colombia a Tierra del Fuego, sureste de Brasil; también África, Australia, Nueva Zelanda y Borneo.
Andreaea subulata is characterized by the leaves costate, ovate leaf base with a thick subula, and entire, not porose lower lamina cell walls. The type of A. subulate was collected by Harvey in 1837 from Tierra Fuego. Andreaea aristata Herzog, collected by Troll from Colombia, is a synonym.
Andreaea subulata se caracteriza por las hojas con costa, bases de las hojas ovadas con una súbula gruesa, y célula inferiores de la lámina con paredes enteras, no porosas. El tipo de A. subulata fue colectado por Harvey en 1837 en Tierra de Fuego. Andreaea aristata Herzog, colectada por Troll en Colombia, es un sinónimo.

Leaves costate, ca. 1.8-2.1 mm long, subulate from a shortly oblong base, cells think-walled, mostly isodiametric above, mostly oblong-rectangular or subquadrate below.
