Ecology. Humid puna, extending down into the open Yungas montane; exposed on soil or soil covered rock. Elevation. 2300-4020 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz. World range: Southwest United States, Mexico, Central America, Dominican Republic, tropical Andes.
Ecología. Puna húmeda, extendiéndose hasta el montano abierto de Yungas; en sitios expuestos sobre suelo o rocas cubiertas por suelo. Altitud. 2300-4020 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Cochabamba y La Paz. Distribución mundial: suroeste de Estados Unidos, México, Centro América, República Dominicana, Andes tropicales.
Bartramia brevifolia is distinguished by the rather small plant stature to 3 cm, leaves ca. 3-4 mm, firm thick-walled juxtacostal and thin-walled marginal shoulder cells, thick-walled leaf base cells, stem leaves of similar length as perichaetial leaves, setae 6-15 mm, globose capsules to ca. 2.5 mm, vertical-striate papillose exostome, and rudimentary endostome.
Bartramia brevifolia se distingue por las planta de estatura muy reducida hasta 3 cm, hojas ca. 3-4 mm, células yuxtacostales con paredes gruesas firmes y células marginales del hombro con paredes delgadas, células de la base de la hoja con paredes gruesas, hojas del tallo de longitud similar a las hojas periqueciales, setas 6-15 mm, cápsulas globosas hasta ca. 2.5 mm, exostoma papiloso estriado verticalmente y endostoma rudimentario.
