Ecology. High open Yungas montane, possibly extending into the puna; on humus or humus covered rocks and soil, often associated with bog habitats. Elevation. 3350-3400 m. Distribution. Bolivia: La Paz, Cochabamba. World range: Colombia to Bolivia.
Ecología. Montano alta abierto de Yungas, posiblemente extendiéndose en la puna; sobre humus o humus cubriendo rocas y suelo, a menudo asociada con hábitats pantanosos. Altitud. 3350-3400 m. Distribución. Bolivia: La Paz y Cochabamba. Distribución mundial: Colombia a Bolivia.
Breutelia brevifolia is distinguished by the plant stature to 4 cm, widespreading to subsquarrose, strongly plicate (extending into the acumen) leaves to 3 mm, non-sheathing leaf base, serrulate distal leaf limb, short excurrent costa, and ca. 2 rows of enlarged marginal cells at leaf base. The type collection was made by Herzog along the upper slopes of Tablas, in the Chapare region.
Breutelia brevifolia se distingue por la estatura de las plantas hasta 4 cm, hojas ampliamente extendidas a subescuarrosas, marcadamente plegadas (extendiéndose en el acumen) hasta 3 mm, base de la hojas no envainantes, porción distal del limbo de la hoja serrulada, costa corto-excurrente, y ca. 2 filas de células marginales agrandadas en la base de la hoja. La colección tipo fue realizada por Herzog en las laderas superiores de Tablas, en la región de Chapare.
