Ecology. Open and forested Yungas montane to humid puna; on soil and rocks. Elevation. (1300?) 3100-3750 m. Distribution. Bolivia: La Paz, Santa Cruz. World range: tropical Andes, southeast Brazil.

Breutelia subdisticha is similar to the gametophytic features of B. chrysea, differing mainly by the longer setae (12-20 mm) and shorter exostome teeth (350-360 µm); see Griffin (1984a).
