Breutelia trianae is distinguishded by ovate narrowly lanceolate leaves to 4 mm, plicate to ca. mid leaf base, weakly to distinctly serrulate margins, excurrent costa, very elongate (10:1) upper limb cells, 3-4 cells wide and 4 or more cells extending along the margin. Similar to B. chrysea but that species exhibits shorter (4-7:1) leaf limb cells.
Breutelia trianae se distingue por las hojas lanceoladas angostamente ovadas hasta 4 mm, plegadas hasta ca. la mitad de la base, márgenes débilmente a conspicuamente serrulados, costa excurrente, células superiores del limbo muy alargadas (10:1), 3-4 células de ancho y 4 o más células extendiéndose a lo largo del margen. Es parecida a B. chrysea, pero esta especie tiene las células del limbo de la hoja más cortas (4-7:1).
