Plants rather robust, in large, dense mats. Stems prostrate, to 6–8 cm long, irregularly subpinnately or sparsely branched. Stem and branch leaves more or less similar, usually twisted when dry, broadly ovate, 1.17–1.58 mm × 0.54–1.0 mm, concave, plicate, rather abruptly narrowed to a slender, sometimes twisted apex, often decurrent at base; margins serrulate above base; costae rather strong, ending above mid-leaf, sometimes projecting at tips; median leaf cells linear-rhomboidal, 45–63 µm × 9–11 µm, thin-walled; basal cells shorter; alar cells distinctly differentiated, inflated, hyaline, shortly rectangular to rounded-hexagonal. Perichaetial leaves lanceolate, ecostate. Setae 10–20 mm long, reddish brown, papillose; capsules shortly cylindrical; peristome not seen. Spores not seen.
