Ecology. Humid puna; on soil and soil covered rocks. Elevation. 4250-4720 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz; World range: NW Argentina and Bolivia in the tropical Ands; widespread in the températe regions.
 
Ecología. Puna húmeda; sobre suelo y rocas cubiertas por suelo. Altitud. 4250-4720 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Cochabamba y La Paz; Distribución mundial: noroeste de Argentina y Bolivia en los Andes tropicales; amplia distribución en regiones templadas.
 
Pohlia cruda is characterized by erect and straight (not secund), glossy yellowish-green (metallic) plants, red stems, lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate or elliptic leaves to 3 mm, straight (not twisted) apcies, typically red costa, thin-walled laminal cells, setae 1-3, pyriforme-cylindrical capsules with a distinct neck, broadly perforate endostomal segments from a high basal membrane.
 
Pohlia cruda se caracteriza por las plantas verde brillantes, amarillentas (metálicas) erectas y rectas (no unilaterales), tallos rojos, hojas lanceoladas, ovado-lanceoladas o elípticas hasta 3 mm, ápices rectos (no torcidos), costa típicamente roja, células de la lámina con paredes delgadas, setas 1-3, cápsulas piriformes-cilíndricas con un cuello conspicuo, segmentos del endostoma anchamente perforados desde una membrana basal alta.
