Pohlia elongate is distinguished paroicous sexual condition, well developed neck, coarsely above, finely below papillose exostome, reduced enstome with a moderately low basal membrane, keeled and narrowly perforated segments and mostly short cilia. Although the capsules vary in shape and length, when both the neck and urn are elongate the capsules can reach 5-6 mm in length. Pohlia spectabilis (Müll. Hal.) Broth. is a synonym.
