Notes:

Ecology: High open montane to páramo and humid puna; on moist or wet soil and rocky soil. Elevation: 2800-4300 m (Venezuela: 4045 m, Colombia: 2800-4300 m, Ecuador: 2700-4200 m, Bolivia: 3050-4000 m). Distribution: Endemic to the tropical Andes.
 
Ecología: Montano alto abierto hasta páramo y puna; sobre suelo húmedo o mojado y suelo rocoso. Elevación: 2800-4300 m (Venezuela: 4045 m, Colombia: 2800-4300 m, Ecuador: 2700-4200 m, Bolivia: 3050-4000 m). Distribución: Colombia y Ecuador; posiblemente en los Andes Tropicales.
 
This species exhibits a strong sheathing base and long subula, the upper most cells of the lamina sheath are subquadrate in a few rows.
 
Esta especie presenta una base envainadora fuerte y subula larga, la mayoría de las células superiores de la porción envainadora de la lámina son subcuadradas en pocas filas.
