Ecology. Open high Yungas montane to prepuna or puna; on rocks and soil covered rocks along and in streams. Elevation. 3270-4200 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, La Paz. World range: tropical Andes; rather widespread.
Ecología. Montano abierto alto de Yungas a prepuna o puna; sobre rocas y rocas cubiertas por suelo en quebradas. Altitud. 3270-4200 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, Cochabamba y La Paz. Distribución mundial: Andes tropicales; distribución bastante amplia.
This species has been in recent times broadly defined, thus where previously thought to be Andean in distribution, is now construed to exhibit a nearly worldwide distribution. The subquadrate cells of the upper lamina are distinctive.
Esta especie ha sido ampliamente definida recientemente, previamente se pensaba que tenía una distribución andina, actualmente se infiere que tiene una distribución mundial. Las  células subcuadradas en la porción superior de la lámina son características distintivas.
