Plants medium-sized, rather large, green, glossy, in dense mats. Stems prostrate, 3–7 cm long, irregularly or subpinnately branched; branches 5–15 mm long, attenuate at tips. Stem leaves broadly ovate-lanceolate, 1.8–2.0 mm × ca. 1.0 mm, concave, acute at apex, distinctly constricted at base; margins sparsely denticulate; costae double, very short, but thick; median leaf cells linear, ca. 50 µm × 6 µm; apical cells shorter; alar cells quadrate or shortly rectangular, hyaline; branch leaves narrowly ovate-lanceolate, serrulate at apex. Autoicous. Setae 15–25 mm long, reddish brown or orange; capsules cylindrical, 2–3 mm long; opercula conic-rostrate; annuli well developed, consisting of 2–3 rows of inflated cells; exostome teeth narrowly lanceolate, cross-striolate below, vertically or irregularly striolate above; endostome segments linear, shorter than the teeth, pale yellowish, smooth. Spores spherical, 12–14 µm in diameter, minutely papillose.
