Plants rather large, pale green, somewhat glossy, in dense mats. Stems prostrate, to 4–8 cm long, regularly pinnately branched, sparsely foliate; branches 0.5–1.0 cm long. Stem leaves broadly ovate, 1.6–1.7 mm × 0.90–1.17 mm, abruptly narrowed to a squarrose or twisted apex; margins serrulate; costae ending ca. 2/3 the leaf length, projecting at tips; median leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal, 40–57 µm × 5.5–8.0 µm, thin-walled; basal cells shortly rectangular or elliptical, somewhat thick-walled; alar cells not distinctly differentiated; branch leaves smaller, ovate-lanceolate, 0.99–1.35 mm × 0.54–0.81 mm, slightly plicate, slender, twisted at apex; margins serrate; costae ending beyond 2/3 the leaf length, distinctly projecting at tips. Sporophytes not seen.
