Plants slender, rigid, green to yellowish green, brownish green when old, dull, in tufts. Stems creeping, varying greatly in length, irregularly branched; branches long to short, often flagelliform. Leaves cucullate, 0.7–1.2 mm × 0.4–0.6 mm, suddenly tapered from a broadly ovate base to an apiculate or blunt apex, indistinctly biplicate; costa short, forked from base or middle, ending below middle of leaf; margins plane, entire; leaf cells small, irregularly round-quadrate to shortly rhomboidal, smooth; median cells 20–25 µm × 6–8 µm; alar cells flatly quadrate, 7.5–12.5 µm × ca. 12.5 µm, in oblique rows upward. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves abruptly narrowed from a semi-sheathing base to an apiculate apex upward, erect, 1.6 mm long. Setae 8–13 mm long; capsules erect or slightly pendent, cylindrical; annuli differentiated, consisting of 1–2 rows of cells; peristome double; exostome teeth long-lanceolate, reddish brown, 0.6–0.7 mm long, nearly smooth, lamellae present; endostome segments keeled; cilia absent. Spores 20–25 µm in diameter, verrucose.
