Plants small to medium-sized, yellowish green, sometimes yellowish red, in tufts or large patches. Stems simple or branched from the base, 1–3 cm long. Leaves sparse at lower stems, crowded at stem tips, flexuous or contorted when dry, erect-patent when moist, oblong-ovate to broadly obovate, 4–5 mm × 1.2–1.8 mm, usually deeply concave; margins entire, often involute on both sides; costa percurrent or shortly excurrent; leaf cells thin-walled, upper cells irregularly rectangular to hexagonal, 40–70 µm × 35–42 µm; basal cells elongate, broadly rectangular, 90–145 µm × 40–45 µm. Autoicous. Perigonia terminal, budlike; perichaetia located just below the perigonia on short branches. Setae slender, light yellowish brown, 2–5 cm long; straight below, curved above; capsules horizontal to pendulose, pyriform, asymmetric, 3.5–4.5 mm × 1.5–2.0 mm, apophyses distinctly developed, sulcate when dry; opercula flat-convex; annuli large, revoluble; peristome double; exostome teeth lanceolate, papillosely striate below, papillose above, strongly trabeculate; endostome segments lanceolate, nearly as long as the teeth. Calyptrae inflated-cucullate, long-rostrate. Spores spherical, yellowish, 15–20 µm in diameter, smooth.
