Plants rather large, deeply green, not glossy. Stems prostrate, up to 5 cm long, subpinnately branched, complanate, 2.5 mm wide with leaves; branches 3–5 mm long, ca. 2 mm wide with leaves, complanate. Stem leaves polymorphic, usually ovate, lingulate, with rounded-obtuse, truncate or emarginated apices, ca. 1.2 mm × 0.6 mm; margins serrate above, with large teeth, each formed by a projecting, triangular, thick-walled cell; upper cells similar to the median cells, but with large and forked papillae; median cells 50–70 µm × 4.0–4.5 µmµm; lower cells linear, hyaline; alar cells larger than inner ones, thin-walled, hyaline. Inner perichaetial leaves lanceolate, ca. 1.2 mm long; upper margins clearly serrate, usually with long and forked teeth. Setae 22–25 mm long, smooth, reddish brown, sometimes curved above; capsules horizontal to pendent, oblong-ovoid, arcuate, 1.5–2.0 mm ´ 0.6–0.8 mm; opercula ca. 0.75 mm long; exostome teeth up to 0.5 mm long; basal membrane up to 1/3 the length of exostome teeth. Spores 6–10 mm in diameter.
