Plants medium-sized, pale yellowish green or pale brown, somewhat glossy. Stems prostrate, up to 8 cm long, irregularly or pinnately branched; stem rounded in cross section; leafy stems terete, with erect-spreading leaves; branches terete, ca. 1.5 cm long, rarely flagelliform; pseudoparaphyllia lanceolate, 5–11 cells wide at base. Stem leaves slightly or not differentiated; dorsal leaves oblong-lanceolate, 2.3–3.8 mm × 0.8–1.0 mm, slenderly acuminate, slightly falcate, decurrent; margins slightly recurved at base, serrulate above, nearly entire below; costae double, reaching 1/4–1/3 the leaf length, separate at base; median leaf cells narrowly rhomboidal, 55–70 µm × 2–3 µm, strongly thick-walled, rarely prorate, basal cells porose; alar cells distinctly differentiated, in 5–7 longitudinal rows, 7–10 transverse rows; ventral leaves plane, rarely rugose at apex; branch leaves similar to stem leaves, 1.4–1.7 mm × 0.3–0.5 mm. Inner perichaetial leaves reflexed at apex, ecostate, cells thick-walled. Setae ca. 3 cm long; capsules cylindrical, 2.5–3.0 mm × 1.0–1.3 mm, inclined or horizontal; cilia 1–2. Spores 18–23 µm in diameter.
