Ecology. Chiquitano forest to Yungas and Tucuman-Bolivian montane forest; along or in streams, on rocks. Elevation. 350-2190 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz. World range: Central and South America tropical lowlands.
Ecología. Bosque Chiquitano a bosque montano de Yungas y Tucumano-boliviano; en quebradas, sobre rocas. Altitud. 350-2190 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, Cochabamba y Santa Cruz. Distribución mundial: tierras bajas de Centro y Sur América tropical.
This species is characterized by an extremely strong double costa that is inwardly curved and nearly merges at the apex. Aquatic forms of this species, at least in Bolivia, exhibit leaves more oblong, and often with the leaf lamina eroded leaving only the double costae.
Esta especie se caracteriza por tener costa doble y extremadamente fuerte, curvada hacia adentro y casi emergente en el ápice. Las formas acuáticas de esta especie, por lo menos en Bolivia, presentan hojas más oblongas, y a menudo con la lámina de la hoja erosionada permaneciendo sólo la costa doble.
