Plants rigid, yellowish green, slightly glossy. Primary stems creeping, densely covered with reddish brown rhizoids; secondary stems erect, 6–8 cm long, simple below, with stipe leaves densely imbricate, pinnately branched above; branches mostly erect, densely foliate, obtuse at the apex. Stipe leaves broadly ovate, with an obtuse apex, not plicate; margins plane, serrulate above; costae vanishing below the leaf apex; upper stem leaves oblong-ovate, longitudinally plicate, obtuse, serrulate at the apex; branch leaves narrowly oblong-ovate to ovate-lanceolate, longitudinally plicate, acute or obtuse at the apex, with small auricles at the base; margins serrulate above; costae slender, ending below the apex; apical leaf cells hexagonal; median cells narrowly elongate-hexagonal to linear, thin-walled; basal cells lax, hyaline. Perichaetia on secondary stems. Inner perichaetial leaves oblong-ovate, long acuminate at the apex. Setae 2–3 cm long, smooth; capsules cylindrical, slightly curved; opercula long rostrate; peristome double; exostome teeth narrowly lanceolate, finely papillose; endostome segments longer than the teeth, keeled, perforate; basal membrane low, cilia none. Spores 15–20 µm in diameter, finely papillose.
