Ecology. Yungas and Tucuman-Bolivian premontane to montane forest; on shrubs, branches and trunks of treelets and trees. Elevation. 1140-2600 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, La Paz, Santa Cruz, Tarija. World range: Mexico, Central America, Greater Antilles (Dominican Republic), tropical Andes, Chile, southeast Brazil and Paraguay.
Ecología. Bosque montano a premontano de Yungas y Tucumano-boliviano; sobre arbustos, ramas y troncos de arbolitos y árboles. Altitud. 1140-2600 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, La Paz, Santa Cruz y Tarija. Distribución mundial: México, Centro América, Antillas Mayores (República Dominicana y Haití), Andes tropicales, Chile, sureste de Brasil y Paraguay.
Cryphaea patens is characterized by the ovate-short lanceolate leaves, recurved margins, distally serrate, and subpercurrent costa, round to short elliptical laminal cells. Cryphaea patens var. dilata Herzog, originally based on syntypes collected by Herzog from Yuto (Argentina) and Tres Cruces (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), is a synonym.
Cryphaea patens se caracteriza por las hojas corto-ovadas lanceoladas, márgenes recurvados, distalmente serrados, costa subpercurrente y células de la lámina redondas a corto elípticas. Cryphaea patens var. dilata Herzog, basada originalmente en sintipos colectados por Herzog en Yuto (Argentina) y Tres Cruces (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), es un sinónimo.
