Plants large, dark green. Primary stems prostrate, with tomentose rhizoids at base; secondary stems erect or erect-spreading, usually simple, sometimes branched near apex, ca. 6 cm high, 1 cm wide; filamentous, orange-red gemmae sometimes in clusters near branch apices. Leaves plane, lateral leaves ovate-rounded, slightly asymmetric, ca. 4.8 mm × 1.9 mm, acuminate; leaf margins bordered, hyaline, serrate, entire at base; amphigastria ovate, acuminate, ca. 2.7 mm × 1.4 mm; costa short, often forked; laminal cells rhomboidal; leaf marginal cells often with sharp teeth near the apex, the length of teeth up to 150 µm, gradually elongate toward margins at base. Perichaetial leaves small, narrow. Setae short, ca. 2 mm long; capsules cylindrical, ca. 2.6 mm long, 1.1 mm in diameter; peristome teeth two layers, well developed. Spores papillose, ca. 30 µm in diameter.
