Plants small, forming dense tufts, pale green to glaucous-green. Stems with erect branches, to 5 mm tall. Leaves larger and crowded above, ovate, 1.5-4.0 mm long, deeply concave, apex acute; margins entire to bluntly serrulate at juncture with costa; costa single, slenderly long excurrent; upper and median cells oblong-hexagonal, firm-walled, corners somewhat thickened; lower cells oblong. Paroicous. Perichaetial leaves larger than stem leaves, enveloping the sporophyte. Setae very short, ca. 0.2 mm long, smooth. Capsules cleistocarpic, immersed, ellipsoid and somewhat apiculate or not, 1.0-1.5 mm long, strongly wrinkled; opercula and peristome absent. Calyptrae conic-mitrate, covering tip of capsule. Spores large, ellipsoid or subglobose, finely granulose.
Plantas pequeñas, en manojos densos, verde pálidas a verde-glaucos. Tallos con ramas erectas, hasta 5 mm de alto. Hojas más grandes y apretadas arriba, ovadas, 1.5-4.0 mm de largo, profundamente cóncavas, ápice agudo; márgenes enteros a serrulados en unión con la costa; costa simple finamente largo excurrente; células superiores y mediales oblongo-hexagonales, de paredes firmes, esquinas algo engrosadas; células inferiores oblongas. Paroicas. Periquecios con hojas más grandes que las hojas del tallo. Setas muy cortas, aprox. 0.2 mm de largo, lisas. Cápsulas cleistocárpicas, inmersas, elipsoides y algo apiculada o no, 1.0-1.5 mm de largo, fuertemente arrugadas; opérculo y peristoma ausente. Caliptra cónico-mitrada, cubriendo el extremo de la cápsula. Esporas grandes, elipsoides o subglobosas, finamente granulosas.
