Ecology. Open Yungas montane to puna; boggy sites or submerged in pools and lake margins. Elevation. 2035-3870 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz, Santa Cruz. World range: widespread in the Northern Hemisphere, tropical Andes (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru); Southeast Asia.
 
Ecología. Montano abierto de Yungas a puna; sitios pantanosos o inmersos en estanques y orillas de lagos. Altitud. 2035-3870 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Cochabamba, La Paz y Santa Cruz. Distribución mundial: ampliamente distribuida en el hemisferio norte, Andes tropicales (Colombia, Ecuador y Perú); sureste de Asia.
 
Branch leaves not flattened when dry (not recurved at tips or notably wavy-margined as in S. sancto-josephense), stem leaves with upper hyaline cells on inner surface lacking a large membrane gap nor small, or large but not conspicuously edged by fibril stumps, if at all (compared with S. sancto-josephense). Assigned to section Cuspidata.

 

Hojas de las ramas no aplanadas en seco (no recurvadas en los extremos o márgenes notablemente ondulados como en S. sancto-josephense), hojas de los tallo con células superiores hialinas sobre la superficie interna sin un orificio grande en la membrana, o grande pero no conspicuamente marginado por tocones de fibrillas, si acaso (comparada con S. sancto-josephense).
