Ptychomitrium aligrimmioides is a small species, characterized by appressed leaves; most of the other species exhibit crispate and incurved leaves. The type of this species is from Moreno, Jujuy, Argentina collected at 3700 m.
 
Ptychomitrium aligrimmioides es una especie de porte pequeño, se caracteriza por las hojas adpresas; presenta hojas más crespas e incurvadas que las otras especies. El tipo de esta especie proviene de Moreno, Jujuy, Argentina y fue colectado a 3700 m.
