Ecology. Yungas and Tucuman-Bolivian montane forest; on base, trunk and sometimes branches of trees. Elevation. 2150-3500 m. Distribution. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, La Paz, Santa Cruz. World range: neotropical highlands, western United States, Europe and Africa.
 
Ecología. Bosque montano de Yungas y Tucumano-boliviano; sobre las bases, troncos y algunas veces ramas de árboles. Altitud. 2150-3500 m. Distribución. Bolivia: Chuquisaca, Cochabamba, La Paz y Santa Cruz. Distribución mundial: tierras altas neotropicales, oeste de los Estados Unidos, Europa y África.
 
Orthodontium gracile is distinguished from the other species in Bolivia by the linear-setaceous leaves, and essentially smooth capsules.
