general taxon notes:
Symphyodon yuennanensis is known only from the type locality. Sterile plants of this species are dull, yellowish green to brown. The apices of stem and branch leaves are usually bluntly acuminate, which is a character distinguishing it from its closely related species, S. perrottetii and S. copelandii Broth. from the Philippines.
