Plants slender, green or yellowish green, in loosely caespitose mats. Stems prostrate, 2.5–3.5 cm long, irregularly branched; central strand weakly differentiated. Stem leaves erect, ovate-lanceolate, ca. 1.3 mm × 0.4 mm, abruptly acuminate toward apex; margins entire or somewhat serrulate; costae single, reaching 1/2–3/4 the leaf length, sometimes curved, ca. 40 mm wide at base; median leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal, 30–60 mm × 8–10 mm; alar cells quadrate to rectangular, not forming a distinct group. Autoicous. Inner perichaetial leaves ovate, gradually constricted to a long acuminate apex; margins entire or slightly serrulate; costae single, thick, reaching close to the leaf apex. Setae 20–25 mm long, smooth, curved; capsules cylindrical, ca. 2.0 mm long, horizontal, arching curved; annuli differentiated; cilia 2–3, mammillose, nodulose. Spores 15–19 mm in diameter, papillose.
